The Battery was replaced

After charging the old battery overnight, it was clear that there was no hope for revival and a new battery was purchased.

Sadly, after the battery contacts on the cables were carefully cleaned (for good contact purposes), the new battery installed -  the car failed to start.  As a matter of fact  - it failed to fart, click or clunk - nothing happened.

Now that was disappointing!

I stood around, looked it through from starter to battery, from under-the-dash to the battery, from the (well-hidden) fuse box to the battery and could simply find nothing.  I then smoked a cigar and thought about my misery.

My wife came home, made robust comment on the money wasted on the new battery, and I tried to start it again, and the engine swung over!

Suspecting that the fuel line was dry, I added a little fuel down each carburetor's throat, and the old lady gracefully swung into a beautiful purr.

More to follow!
